Giving Your Company Warehouse A Thorough Cleaning

To keep your business warehouse in excellent condition and ensure it is clean and tidy, you will need to have a regular cleaning routine to keep it spotless. You will want to do daily and weekly cleaning tasks that can help you keep on top of the dirt and ensure you have a suitable workplace for your employees. However, this is not enough, and you will want to do a thorough cleaning of your warehouse about every six months to help keep it clean and reduce the dust in it. Below are some tips to help you plan the cleaning of your warehouse, so there is as little disruption to your business as possible.

Deciding When To Clean Your Warehouse

If your business operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, there will be disruption to your warehouse when you clean it, and there is nothing you can do. However, if your business does not operate 24 hours daily, you will need to select a suitable time when it is best to clean your warehouse, which may be over a weekend. You will need some of your employees to help you, so you may need to pay overtime, but with a few hard workers, you can complete the task quickly and get it out of the way for another six months.

Starting From The Top

When cleaning your warehouse, you want to start as high as possible and work your way down to ground level. Clear off all the dust and debris from the racking in your warehouse and sweep this down to the floor. You may want to remove items from each section of racking before you start cleaning, which creates more work but ensures you do a thorough job. You will want to work your way down to ground level, cleaning as you go, and then you will be ready to ensure your warehouse floor is spotless.

Cleaning The Warehouse Floor

You will need to clean all the dust and debris from the warehouse floor accumulated from cleaning the racking. Once you have cleaned the warehouse floor with a brush, it is time to bring out the mop, bucket, and commercial floor cleaner and use this to clean and disinfect your warehouse floor. Depending on the condition of the floor, you may need to have it treated to keep it in excellent condition.

Sealing The Floor

Once you have finished cleaning the warehouse floor, you may want to repaint the lines on it if they are starting to fade. Once you have done this task, you may also want to reseal the floor surface, which can help keep it clean. Floor sealant often uses chemicals, so you may need to have an expert company do this treatment for you, and once complete, you will find that it is much easier to clean your floors daily. Once the treatment has been applied, and it has dried, you can open up your warehouse again and get on with your business until you need to repeat the process in six months.
